Welcome to Bangladesh! Bangladesh use to be the only third order enclave in the world along with India. Meaning in center was India, sounded by Bangladesh, which was sounded by India and then once more by Bangladesh. It has had a turmoils political past which has lead to an interesting history. It was even once known as East Pakistan. Bangladesh is home to my favorite animal as a kid the Bengal tiger which is threatened to going extinct in the next 50 years. Their diet is heavily influenced by fish which is turning out to be an issue living in Missouri!

Masoor Dal Chichi is a popular dish during the Monsoon season and commonly eaten throughout Bangladesh. It is loved for its warmth and goes well with many different sides. It is a relatively simple rice dish with vegetables but is still considered a non veg by the Bangladeshi for the mixture of onion, garlic and lentils.

I am never going to lie on this blog because well only about 2 people read it so I will be brutally honest. I just think this was a bad recipe. With all the spices and the peppers you would think this dish would be full of flavor. However the potatoes, rice, and lentils just came through as a tone of starch. I promise you I soaked all three too for at least two hours before cooking with them! It was a bland mixture of starch with none of the warmth I thought would be there. That being said seeing what goes into this dish I know that if I get the chance I would love some real Masoor Dal Chichi.

Overall this gets a 4 out of ten. DISCLAIMER: not Bangladeshi food but this particular recipe and how I prepared it! Ugh also no fish because we are too far from the Ocean and next week gets REALLY FISHY in Barbados!
